HSBC PETITION ON CHANGE.ORG
The general public are fed up hearing how wealthy people and corporations are effectively being let off from their tax responsibilities in the UK when the vast majority of people work hard and pay their taxes.
The Guardian has published reports that suggest parts of HSBC may have helped clients avoid tax, cheating the Treasury out of millions of pounds in tax. The Public Accounts Committee has the power to call bank bosses, including former HSBC chairman Stephen Green, for questioning. They should do it immediately. And the Government should seek prosecutions of those involved in tax avoiding activity.
Governments have made a show of pursuing so-called benefit cheats, often for very small amounts of money when millions of pounds is being lost to wealthy, corporate tax evaders. Failure to question bank bosses and pursue prosecutions amounts to a law for the rich and another law for the poor, which is itself an offence to democracy.
Please sign the HSBC petition and let’s put an end to one rule for banks and the rich, and another for THE REST OF us.
